A piece of koa brought back from a trip to Kauai formed the basis for this small cabinet. The secondary wood is a wonderfully tightly grained VG fir. I cut the marquetry with a fret saw and birds mouth fixture out of commercial 1/16" poplar, maple, and mahogany veneers. The stringing is holly and ebony. The cabinet is a design by Mike Pekovich (Fine Woodworking, Issue 254); the marquetry is original.
